UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2, 2021, The Roadside Fire is 100% contained and burned 50 acres.
UPDATE: August 29, 2021 @ 10:30pm, Cause of the fire is still under investigation. 50 acres have burned with 30% containment. All road closures and evacuation orders have been lifted as of 6:30pm on August 28, 2021. Crew are continuing to work to build and strengthen containment lines.
UPDATE: August 28, 2021 @ 3:00 pm, The forward rate of the fire is stopped, hand and engine crews are working to increase the line and hose lay around the fire’s perimeter. The fire is holding at 50 acres with 0% containment. An evacuation center is open at the Jessie Turner Community Center located at 15556 Summit Avenue in Fontana. The same evacuations center set up for the South Fire.
The Roadside Fire started about 11:30, August 28, 2021 near Cajon Blvd and Keenbrook Road in the Cajon Pass. It has burned about 50 acres in grass and chaparral at a moderate rate of spread with 0% containment. Aircraft are on scene dropping retardant. CAJON ROAD IS CLOSED between Cleghorn and Swarthout Canyon. EVACUATION ORDERS have been Issue for all residents and businesses off of Cajon Blvd. between Keenbrook Road and Swarthout Canyon.
