This year’s Summer Reading Program (SRP) is especially exciting for the Wrightwood Library as it coincides with the library’s Grand Reopening on Monday, June 8, at 11 a.m. Following an extensive renovation, the library now features new flooring, fresh paint, updated shelving, and numerous other improvements. Library staff and the Wrightwood Friends of the Library have been working diligently to prepare for the reopening and are eager to welcome the community back and showcase the renovations that have been underway since March 11.
The San Bernardino County Library’s annual Summer Reading Program, themed “Catch The Wave” will run from June 8 through August 2, 2026 at the Phelan and Wrightwood branches. The program offers free events and reading incentives for all ages. Families are invited to ride the wave of adventure with ocean-inspired stories, sunny activities, creative crafts, and fun-filled events.
Readers can begin by registering online through Beanstack and then picking up registration materials at their local branch. Based on their age group—Library Beginners (ages 0–5) through Adults (18 and older) Check your the library for details.
During the Summer Reading Program regular programs will continue along with Summer performers. Phelan Memorial Library’s regular programs are: Mondays, 3:30pm is Library Beginners Book and Craft (ages 0-5). Tuesdays, 3:30pm is Storytime, songs and crafts for all ages. Thursdays, 3:30pm is Discovery Time (ages 6-11)- Hands-0n STEM activities. And, on Saturday June 27, 2pm is Adult Book Club. Fun for the family are the Summer performers on Wednesdays at 4pm. June 10, Forever Wild- Meet wild & exotic animals that live at the Animal Sanctuary in Phelan. June 17, Full Spectrum: Bubble-Ology – Discover a world of bubbles. And, June 24, Wild Life Adventure Time- Meet wild animals that have been rescued.
Special programs at Wrightwood Library: Wrightwood Library’s regular programs are: Mondays, 11:30am is Storytime, songs and crafts for all ages. Tuesday, 11:30am is Read, Stretch & Shine (ages 0-5)- Active movement with songs & dance. Thursdays, 4pm is Discovery Time (ages 6-11)- Hands-0n STEM activities. Family fun with Summer performers on Wednesdays at 1pm. June 10 is California Joe- Magical jouney around the world. June 17, Wildlife Adventure Time- Meet wild animals that have been rescued. And, June 24, David Skale- Magic, laughs, audience participation, and a live bunny.
