The San Bernardino County Library’s annual Summer Reading Program, themed “Catch the Wave,” continues through Aug. 2, 2026, at both the Phelan Memorial Library and Wrightwood Library.
The free program encourages reading while offering families a variety of ocean-themed stories, hands-on activities, crafts, educational programs, and live performances throughout the summer.
Participants can register for the “Catch the Wave” reading incentive program online through Beanstack at sbclib.beanstack.com and pick up registration materials at their local library branch. Reading challenges and prizes are available for all age groups, from Library Beginners (ages 0-5) to adults. Contact your local library branch for complete participation details.
Phelan Memorial Library Programs
Regular weekly programs include: Mondays, 3:30 p.m. Library Beginners Book and Craft (ages 0-5) Tuesdays, 3:30 p.m. is storytime, songs, and crafts for all ages. Thursdays, 3:30 p.m. will be discovery time (ages 6-11), featuring hands-on STEM activities. On Saturday, July 25, at 2 p.m. is the Adult Book Club.
Summer performers will appear on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. and include: July 1: A magical journey around the world with California Joe, July 8: A family-friendly ventriloquist show by Marc Griffiths, July 15: Pacific Animal Productions brings educational animal encounters, July 22: Michael Rayner dazzles in an energetic and interactive performance, and on July 29: Learn how to create fun balloon shapes.
Wrightwood Library Programs
Regular weekly programs include: Mondays, 11:30 a.m. with storytime, songs, and crafts for all ages, Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. is Read, Stretch & Shine (ages 0-5), featuring movement, songs, and dance, and Thursdays, 4 p.m. is Discovery Time (ages 6-11), featuring hands-on STEM activities
Summer performers will appear on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and include: July 8: Meet an exciting collection of reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids with Thor’s Reptile Family, July 15: Learn the basics of balloon twisting with the Full Spectrum Balloon Workshop, July 22: Discover the important roles animals play in our ecosystem at Wonders of Wildlife and on July 29: Pacific Animal Productions brings educational and interactive animal experiences.
