The 2023/2024 Miss Phelan pageant was held Thursday evening September 28th in the Phelan Community Center where 11 young ladies participated and competed in this year’s event.
The pageant began with a costume contest. Participants dressed in Western outfits and strode on stage while short biographies were read for each young lady which included their favorite song, movie, and hobbies. The second round included formal attire and an interview question. Each lady elegantly paraded on stage and got to answer one short question such as: Who’s your favorite person? What would you change about Phelan? What does community service mean to you? After all the contestants had a chance to answer, the judges deliberated and tallied the points that contributed to each contestant’s overall score.
Before the final titles were announced the fun, optional Sponsor Awards were given out. Some of the winners included Irie Marquez, who won Best Smile, sponsored by Phelan Dentistry; Alissa Gabriel, who was awarded Best Hair, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club; and Kaydence Lam won Best Attire, sponsored by Daniel Meredith Plumbing.
