Snowline School Board President Marcus Hernandez has announced his candidacy for the SBC 1st District Supervisor position in 2024.

Snowline School District Board President Marcus Hernandez has announced his candidacy to serve the residents of San Bernardino County as the next District 1 Supervisor in the upcoming 2024 election.

Marcus and his family are long-time residents of the Snowline school district, having moved to the desert 20 years ago. Marcus and his wife have two children who attend school here in the district. Marcus, a Mechanical Engineer by degree and career, has worked in the private sector for 30 years. He is also a 17-year volunteer veteran of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, serving side-by-side with deputies of the Victorville station.

Marcus has been inspired to serve the public while being a part of the school board, where he immediately led the efforts to remove the district’s pay-to-ride bus pass policy. Many years prior, the district had decided to charge students’ families more than $400 to ride the bus to school. Removal of this policy immediately put that money back into community members’ wallets. Over the years, he has led many efforts to ensure an excellent education is available to all students. Marcus now wants to broaden those efforts to set policy to ensure that the desert is developed in meaningful and intentional ways.

“Our desert is an amazing and beautiful place, but development in our cities and communities has progressed without any obvious intention,” Marcus said. “We deserve a Board of Supervisors that will honor all the desert offers, from our open-space rural communities to retail-centric cities.”

Marcus is very excited to announce the endorsement of his campaign by the Snowline Teachers Association – a labor group with hundreds of members and representing over 400 teachers. He has also been endorsed by Inland Equity Votes – a housing advocacy group. Marcus also enjoys the support and encouragement of friends and colleagues representing current and retired school employees, deputies, nurses, current elected officials, and numerous candidates representing the High Desert. Any questions for the candidate should be directed to [email protected].
