San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Seeking Phelan Posse Search and Rescue Volunteers

Phelan Posse Search and Rescue is looking for volunteers who enjoy working together to get the job done!

The Phelan Posse Search and Rescue, which is part of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Volunteer Forces, is inviting community members to join their dedicated team. This volunteer group combines a love of horses with a passion for service, assisting in search and rescue missions, large animal evacuations, parades, and community or rodeo events with their horses, minis, and even a donkey.

To be considered, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • No felony convictions
  • No pending misdemeanor or felony court cases
  • In compliance with the Department tattoo policy
  • Eighteen+ years of age
  • Legal resident of the United States
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

The application can be found by visiting https://wp.sbcounty.gov/sheriff/divisions/volunteer-forces/search-and-rescue/. Once completed, it may be submitted via email or in person by attending a volunteer meeting.

San Bernardino is the largest county within the United States. The county spans 20,105 square miles, encompassing vast deserts, mountain ranges, urban cities, many lakes, and the Colorado River. People from across the world can be found throughout the year hiking, rock climbing, water sports, and snow skiing. The volunteers save many lives each year during their search and rescue missions in every type of environment.
