On June 25th, Wrightwood held the first Music in the Pines of the year. If you missed it, don’t be discouraged, because in the near future there will be more Music in the Pines events.
The free outdoor concert series takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. every other Thursday and the next upcoming performances are scheduled for July 9, July 23, and Aug. 6.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of food and desserts available for purchase from local vendors, including Mile High Pizza, Mexico Lindo, The Village Grind, Snowy Cones, along with two dessert stands. Raffle tickets will also be available throughout the evening, giving attendees the chance to win a variety of prizes.

The opening concert on June 25th featured The Southern Comfort Band, which performed a mix of country favorites, including “Choosin’ Texas” by Ella Langley.
The Music in the Pines concert lineup is now being coordinated by Wrightwood local Davey Schneider, who has been to nearly every Music in the Pines event (except for 1) since the series began. Schneider now organizes the concerts alongside his mother, Michelle Meyers. The pair has taken over the beloved event from the concert series originator, Dan Campbell, who started the free music event almost 20 years ago.
Michelle emphasized the importance of keeping the Music in the Pines going, saying: “These concerts bring the community together, it brings hundreds of people from the town together, people get to see each other, hang out, socialize, relax and enjoy themselves, and live music is good for the soul and good for health.”

Davey also provided a few tips for first time visitors: “When coming to our event you should bring chairs, and if your coming for the opening show, you should bring a hat, because there still some sun out, you should also bring a drink, and if you want food from the vendors, you should bring some cash.”
Davy and Michelle said they look forward to welcoming residents and visitors throughout the summer as the Music in the Pines concert series continues for hopefully many more years to come!
