The Phelan-Piñon Hills Community Services District (PPHCSD) Parks and Recreation Department is offering a series of free summer events for Tri-Community residents through the end of July.
The lineup includes weekly movie nights, painting sessions, youth archery lessons, and community gardening classes, aimed at engaging families and individuals of all ages.
A highlight of the summer series is the Friday night Summer Movie Nights, held at dusk in Phelan Community Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. The movie schedule features IF on July 11, Dog Man on July 18, and Harold and the Purple Crayon on July 25. The series is hosted by the Tri-Community Kiwanis. Admission is free, and no RSVP is required. Snacks will be available for purchase.
In addition to movie nights, the district is offering complimentary Painting in the Park classes led by Shine Bright Paint. Sessions will be held Thursdays—July 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31—with classes for ages 5 to 12 at 9 a.m. and for ages 13 and up at 11 a.m. RSVP is required at www.pphcsd.org/sign-up-for-classes, and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Kids’ Archery Lessons with the Mojave Archers will take place at 4093 Olivera Road in Phelan, at the west corner of Cayucos Drive and Sheep Creek Road. The final session of the summer will be held Thursday, July 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. Equipment will be provided, and RSVP is required.

The Community Teaching Garden class, taught by Master Gardener Michelle Hannon, meets on the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. in Phelan Community Park. The July 12 session will focus on mulch and smart watering practices. The class is free and open to all ages. No RSVP is required.
With a range of activities planned, the PPHCSD’s summer schedule offers opportunities for residents to learn, relax, and connect.
