Oletta Sharon Nemer, age 84, passed away on May 23, 2021, in Yucca Valley, Ca. She was born Dec 27, 1936, in Parkersburg, WV, to the late Fritz William and Edna Johnson McCray.
She graduated from Parkersburg High School. She worked as a carhop and would use her mere wages to feed and clothe those who couldn’t fend for themselves. It was there she met her beloved husband of 60 years, Ellis (Nick) Nemer. He said it was love at first sight.
She moved to California with her husband and children in the late 1960s. She never forgot her West Virginia roots and loved sharing family stories. The family built a house in Phelan, where they lived for over 35 years, though she spent her last years living in Yucca Valley.
She ran a successful business on the corner of Hwy 18 and 395 for years in the 1970’s selling cowhide and sheepskin rugs. She put hard work into a variety of jobs and family-owned enterprises through the years. She was always up for an adventure, of which there were many.
She loved family, animals, music, singing, bowling, movies, the Lakers, playing video games, reading, and metal detecting. She was a sweet, beautiful soul who treated everyone like family and sometimes took them into her home. She lived in Phelan for over 35 years but spent the last years of her life living in Yucca Valley.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother Arland and sisters Marilyn, Dolores, and Linda. She is survived by her husband Nick Nemer, daughter Sharon Nemer and Scott Jodice, son Greg and Alice Nemer, sisters Judy Curkendall and Mary Flowers, brother Waynuel McCray, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, cousin Linda Anderson who was by her side almost daily in her last months, and many nieces and nephews.
She was loved by many and will be dearly missed forever.
