Why do we have a leap day this year? Well, the Earth’s orbit around the Sun actually takes approximately 365.25 days, so without the addition of a leap day every four years, the calendar would gradually drift out of sync with the astronomical seasons. To compensate for this discrepancy, a leap year is introduced every four years, ensuring that the calendar year aligns more closely with the Earth’s orbit.
