Caltrans announced that the I-15 Northbound Main Street off-ramp in Hesperia will be closed for ten days starting from Wednesday, September 27th, through Saturday, October 7th. The I-15 Freeway pavement rehabilitation continues as crews excavate and re-pave the freeway from Oak Hills Road in Hesperia to just south of Bear Valley Road in Victorville.
While traveling on the I-15, expect delays in the evening and early mornings since crews will work Northbound from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. and Southbound from 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Drivers will experience alternating lane closures, intermittent on and off-ramp closures, and the possibility of closures going down to one lane. There is a traffic switch north of the US-395, with the Northbound traffic detoured into the median to enable crews to remove and replace concrete. During normal operations, connector closures may occur at the Northbound and Southbound US-395 transitions. Caltrans suggests using SR-138 to SR-18 in Phelan to avoid delays and then connecting to the I-15 as a detour.
Big rigs, trucks, trailers, and oversized loads should avoid using lane 4. Motorists should watch out for work trucks entering and exiting from work areas and center median. In the event of rain, North and Southbound lanes #1 and #2 will close due to potential flooding. This project aims to improve safety performance, provide a smoother roadway, and improve drainage systems for better water flow. This ongoing project is anticipated to be completed by Spring of 2025.
