High Desert Phelan Senators: A Travel Baseball Team That Covers All The Bases

The High Desert Senators are a 12-U Baseball travel team with a goal to develop competitive skilled ball players that will integrate with our team to successfully compete at a high level.

Spawning from a small idea into a working plan, the High Desert Phelan Senators (HDP Senators) have created a young Baseball player’s dream of a design for the future.

Being able to hone your athletic ability is important for an aspiring Baseball player. Keeping those same skills sharp is another issue. The off-season can supply much needed rest but having a competitive environment locally helps keep those muscles limber and warmed up. The High Desert Phelan (HDP) Senators Travel Baseball team welcomes ball players from the Tri-Communities of Wrightwood, Pinon Hills, and their namesake Phelan. Offering a year-round opportunity for local athletes pursuing a career in professional sports, the HDP Senators Baseball organization is at the heart of our need to keep kids healthy, and their skill sets sharp.

Realizing the need for a Baseball program for the off-season in the Tri Community, the Craft family of Wrightwood developed the idea and pitched the notion to the neighborhood. The HDP Senators Travel Baseball team soon became a home run and a win-win for the baseball loving Tri-Community.

“The kids just want to play” says HDP Coach and Project Manager of Northrup Grumman, Jason Hutton who took over the team in 2021. “It gets kids into the system so college Baseball recruiters can come to see them perform at Baseball tournaments and showcase events in San Bernardino County.” Jason said.

According to the HDP website, The High Desert Senators are a 12-U Baseball travel team with a goal to develop competitive skilled ball players that will integrate with our team to successfully compete at a high level. A nonprofit 501c3, The HDP Senators are dedicated to serving the Tri-Community, participating in many local events.

Tryouts are weekly if you are finished with your Pony League season, and you need a home field. Currently the team the HDP Senators utilize the playing fields at Pinon Mesa and Quail Valley Middle Schools. The 12-U National Team will compete in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-12 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier in 2024. The location and dates for the Qualifier will be announced at a later date. You can follow USABaseball12U on Twitter X and check USABaseball.com for updates on the 2024 12-UNational Team Schedule.
