Deloy J. Anderson grew up in Southern California with his brother Herbert and sisters Norlene (Reichenbach) and Sheila (Foster). Born to James and Lila (Gardner) on Dec 27, 1936 and passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 86 years old on Dec 18th 2022.
Deloy grew up quickly and married on November 16, 1954, at the age of 17 to Trenna Dawn Schofield who was only 16. They were blessed with 5 children Kyle, Karie (LaFever), Kevin, Kenneth, and Kayleen (Meikle). Their family has now grown into, 27 Grandchildren, 55 Great-Grandchildren, and at last count 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Recently Deloy and Trenna quietly celebrated their 68 years of marriage together.
Deloy worked as a gas station attendant, Lineman for Edison, Fireman, and Engineer for the City of West Covina, and after he moved to Wrightwood, he found his greatest love as a Contractor.
In 1970 the family moved to Wrightwood where Deloy for a short time commuted to West Covina as a fireman and on days off started a construction company, called Anderson Enterprises, they also bought a small business called Wrightwood Lumber, that later became Andersons True Value in Phelan CA. Deloy did the construction work and Trenna did all the office stuff and ordered all the necessary materials.
Deloy built over 40 residential homes in the Wrightwood, Phelan, and Pinon Hills area. But he also liked the challenge of larger projects like building chapels for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He first built the chapel in Wrightwood and then a few years later the one in Phelan. He also supervised the building of chapels in Hesperia, Victorville, Apple Valley, and Newberry Springs. But his biggest church project was when Deloy and Trenna served as Temple Construction Missionaries in Memphis, Tennessee in 1999.
Memorial service were held at the Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints (8889 Sheep Creek Rd. Phelan, CA 92371) on Saturday January 7th, 2023 at 10am.
