Reports of a lockdown at Serrano High school began coming into various Facebook groups just before 10:00 am on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Through text, email, and their Facebook page, Snowline authorities announced that the lockdown had been lifted.
According to the district’s statement, the lockdown occurred due to a “fight involving multiple students which resulted in parents arriving on campus and escalating the event.” The fight was quickly quelled, and both students and parents were removed from the Serrano campus. “Steps are begin taken to further resolve the situation to ensure the safety of all students.” The statement also noted that no weapons were involved.
Unconfirmed secondhand accounts from students on campus to parents claim there was a stabbing and a fight between students, parents showed up, and one was believed to have a gun. Another account stated the fights were racially motivated, and students started fighting teachers. Another said that a female student got jumped, and the fight didn’t begin until parents showed up and that another female student brought a gun to school and got arrested. It is clear that there are several different accounts of the incident floating around on social media. These accounts should not be taken as fact until they can be verified.
This is a breaking story, and updates to this incident will follow as more details become available.
