T.A.N.Y.A’S, Inc. is a local nonprofit 501(C)3 Pet Rescue in Phelan. Tanya Rios and Francisco Rios arrive every Saturday at the Pet Smart in Victorville. They bring rescued dogs needing a forever home in hopes of placing dogs with new families.
Tanya has placed 10,000 animals, mostly dogs, in new homes over the last 26 years, but many different creatures have come to her; they found homes too. Tanya started taking in kittens needing bottle feeding at a veterinary hospital. Then she started her pet rescue work, placing one Dog at a time. “All dogs are spayed or neutered, current on all of their vaccinations, and are microchipped,” said Judy Woodcock, a Rios family friend who drives up from down the hill to volunteer on Saturdays at Pet Smart in Victorville. “You will never see a sick or injured dog up for adoption; they get all the rehabilitation they need first.”
Judy recently bought and donated a 40-foot container for the rescue because she saw the need and believed in the good work of the rescue. Another volunteer, Kassidy Belk, only 17 years old, volunteers to help with paperwork and give vaccinations. She is a family friend who has been volunteering for four years.
Are you wondering about adoption fees? Puppies cost $420; however, if they are on sale, they cost $320. Adult dogs can be adopted for $220, and senior dogs, those over six years old, can be adopted for $125. They have a website, www.tanyasinc.org. Adoptions can be done by appointment at the Phelan office every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Call them to make an appointment at 1-909-379-5182 Another way to adopt a dog is to attend adoption days. Some of these dogs from this rescue will be at the Pet Smart every Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm.
They are very successful, usually placing 4-5 dogs per weekend. Donations are accepted and appreciated if you are interested in donating to help with the many expenses of keeping these dogs housed and food and health care needs.
