Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical, performed at Serrano High School this spring, was an impressive and entertaining production. As one of the first schools in the nation to stage the popular Broadway adaptation, Serrano delivered a memorable show featuring a double student cast, student crew, and live student orchestra.
The production marked a significant milestone for director Mrs. Quinn, who led her final main-stage performance after 26 years at Serrano High School and 32 years teaching high school theater. Supporting her was a talented creative team that included Melissa Aguilar as vocal and music director, bringing her Master of Music degree from Cal State Los Angeles to the production. Serrano graduate Danny Minick conducted the student orchestra, while choreographer Lexis brought professional experience from appearances on The Ellen Show, The George Lopez Show, and award-winning short films featured at the Sundance Film Festival. Technical Director Stephanie Robles helped bring the production to life through her passion for technical theater and education.
The beloved story follows Princess Elsa, whose magical ice powers lead to both wonder and challenges. The role was shared by Zeynep Abu Amrieh and Chloe Fogo as Young Elsa, while Liberty Hueffmeier and Josselyn Moen portrayed Adult Elsa. Each performer brought depth to the character as Elsa struggles to control her powers while protecting those she loves.
Anna, Elsa’s optimistic and determined sister, was portrayed by Bella Zamore and Josie Hernandez as Young Anna, with Christiana Purcell and Maddie Marquez taking on the role of Adult Anna. Their performances captured Anna’s warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to her sister.
Joining them were Ayden Gomez as Kristoff in his first musical production, Elijah Zuniga and Connor Hidalgo as the lovable snowman Olaf, and Shubham Prashar and Rebecca Thomas as Sven, the loyal reindeer who quickly became audience favorites.
The cast successfully captured the heart of the story while highlighting themes of love, courage, and family. What made the production especially memorable was the strong combination of acting, singing, and live music. The lighting, costumes, and stage design worked seamlessly together to create a visually engaging and immersive experience. Every student performer and crew member contributed to a production that showcased the remarkable talent found within the local community.
