Earth Day is April 22nd, it was first held in 1970 by people from all walks of life who were concerned about preserving the environment. Here in the High Desert an Earth Day Art Contest presented by the Phelan Pinon Hills CSD has begun. Students who attend schools in Phelan or Pinon Hills can participate in the Earth Day Art Contest.
Artwork must be Earth Day themed reminding everyone to recycle and conserve water. Artwork must be submitted on 8.5×11 paper only along with a completed entry form by May 30, 2026. Contest rules and how to enter, along with entry forms are available at the PPHCSD Office located at 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan or for full rules download the 2026 Art Contest flyer at pphcsd.org
Judging will be done in three age groups: Kindergarten through 2nd grade, 3rd grade to 5th grade, and 6th grade through 12th grade. The top three works of art in each grade group will be awarded: 1st place receives $100.00, 2nd place is awarded $75.00, and 3rd place winners will receive $50.00. Winners will be awarded in June and featured in the 2027 District Calendar, on the PPHCSD website, and posted to social media. So kids, now is the time to start thinking about creating your piece of Earth Day art.
