Currently, in Wrightwood, commercial trash service pick up is mandatory for all businesses and has been implemented in Wrightwood for some time. Recycling for all businesses is also mandatory for commercial pick-up in Wrightwood and is now being implemented for all businesses to comply with state law.
As for residential trash disposal, the Wrightwood CSD provides all property owners with a dump card for trash and green waste disposal within the district’s boundaries. The disposal cards are issued in July each year and are good for the fiscal year until June of the following year. The disposal cards are accepted at the county landfill/transfer station. The card provides for 52 weekly dumps for the year of 500 lbs of normal household waste. In addition, twelve clean loads of flammable vegetation not mixed with any trash will be accepted up to 500 lbs per load, each per year. The solid waste fee is assessed on the owner’s annual property tax bill, currently about $89 per developed residential parcel.
The Wrightwood CSD works with the Fire Safe Council which offers two green waste drop-off sites per year to help with pine needles collection. The free recycling days will take place on Friday, June 2nd through Sunday, June 4th from 9am to 3pm. Pine needles, weeds, branches, tree trimmings, grass and pine cones can be dropped off for free at 1450 Hwy 2 in Wrightwood, across the street from the Wrightwood Fire Station. For more information about this event visit www.wrightwoodfsc.com or call 760-249-3249. The next green waste event takes place in September.
