Don’t miss Music in the Pines Thursday, July 22, 6 pm-9 pm. It’s Claudia Campbell’s Country Nite!, including Country Band of Musicians and Universal Dudes.
Last Music in the Pines on July 8th was Dan Campbell’s Straight Outta Da Bayou! Which included cajun and zydeco music and was well attended. The stage was set up on the back of an old truck in the Community Building parking lot in Wrightwood, with babysitting available in Vivian Nulls Park.
Three hundred people relaxing in lawn chairs excited to hear true music from Louisiana. At one point, the band came out carrying their music instruments, inviting folks to walk in line with the band as they played.
The bands included Boyd Thibodeaux with Bayou Boneyard and David Scuza, and the Zydeco Mudbugs.
Claudia Campbell, the MC for the evening, explained two types of music were arranged for this concert, Cajun and Zydeco. She was incredibly pleased; folks were enjoying it.
Cajun music and zydeco are closely related parallel music forms. Cajun music is from South Louisiana, while zydeco is the music of the Creoles of the same region.
The evening was festive, uplifting, unique, and very pleasant.
