The Phelan-Piñon Hills Community Services District is offering a full slate of free summer events through the end of July, including movies, painting, gardening and archery for all ages.
The events, hosted by the district’s Parks & Recreation Department, are designed to provide seasonal fun and enrichment for residents of the Tri-Community.
Summer Movie Nights, a favorite among families, are held Friday evenings at dusk at Phelan Community Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. This season’s lineup includes “The Wild Robot” on June 13, “Inside Out 2” on June 20 and “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” on June 27. The movie series is hosted by the Tri-Community Kiwanis. Admission is free and no RSVP is required.

In addition to movies, the district is offering complimentary recreational classes for children and adults. While the classes are free, RSVPs are required and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is available at www.pphcsd.org/sign-up-for-classes.
Painting in the Park, led by Shine Bright Paint, will be held on Wednesdays, June 12, 19 and 26, at Phelan Community Park. Classes for ages 5 to 12 begin at 9 a.m., followed by sessions for ages 13 and up at 11 a.m.
Kid’s Archery Lessons, in partnership with Mojave Archers, are scheduled for Thursdays, June 13, 20 and 27, and July 3. Classes run from 9 to 11 a.m. at 4093 Olivera Road in Phelan, located at the west corner of Cayucos Drive and Sheep Creek Road. Equipment is provided.

The Community Teaching Garden Class, taught by Master Gardener Michelle Hannon, takes place the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. at Phelan Community Park. Each class features a different topic. The June 15 session will focus on pest control. These classes are free, open to all ages, and do not require RSVP.
With such a diverse lineup of programs, the summer promises to be an exciting and enriching time for residents across the Tri-Community.
