A new recycling center has opened next door to the Phelan Market at 4868 Phelan Road, in Phelan, between Rick’s Automotive and The Skillet Plaza, a.k.a. Copper Top. Operating hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm, and Sundays, 9 am until closing at 2 pm. Prices are on display in the shade-covered waiting area. The brightly painted shipping-container mural “Phelan Recycling” is an attention grabber, to say the least. Operator Larry Tobon says, “We look forward to being part of the Tri-Community and are here to help Phelan, Wrightwood, and Pinon Hills with their recycling needs.” The new owners made a great effort to clean up the surrounding desert area next to the Fremont Wash. One happy recycler mentioned, “It was quick and easy!” Open now; the Phelan Recycling container is located at 4868 Phelan Road in Phelan, Ca.
