The community is invited to a special book release event celebrating local author, Dr. Rhonda Rodgers, an esteemed Professor of Psychology at the University of La Verne. She has recently unveiled her captivating and profoundly honest memoir that artfully weaves together the insights of neuroscience, the principles of trauma-informed psychology, and the teachings of Eastern philosophy against the backdrop of one woman’s remarkable journey of personal transformation.
Her memoir, titled Where the Magic Happens: A Journey to Inner Space, made its debut on June 30, 2025, through Abhinna Publishing LLC. With fourteen years of experience in practicing trauma-informed psychology in Southern California, Dr. Rodgers draws upon her innovative work in Mental and Emotional Self-Management (MESM). The narrative takes readers from the depths of corporate burnout to the uplifting experiences of hiking scenic trails, exploring serene Buddhist temples, and engaging in profound nervous system healing.
“If you’ve ever felt like something inside is broken—but you still have a spark of hope—this book will light your way,” Dr. Rodgers says. “Where the Magic Happens doesn’t just share a story; it offers tools, practices and inspiration to help you reconnect with your body, your truth, and your inner peace.”
The book is now available for purchase online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and through booksellers nationwide.
