Local Venues Offer Live Music All Summer Long

A list of live music events happening around the Tri-Community this July.

Music lovers can enjoy a variety of live performances throughout the summer as local venues host outdoor concerts and community music nights. Here’s what’s on the schedule:

The Mountain High Concert Series takes place Saturdays from 5 to 8 p.m. at the North Lodge, where attendees can enjoy free live music in a scenic mountain setting. On July 5, Delta Shade, a local rock band playing originals and cover songs, will perform. The Skler Lutes Band brings reggae vibes on July 12. On July 19, Nice & Swell, an alternative reggae rock band, takes the stage. The series wraps up July 26 with Wild Side Band, an ’80s rock cover band.

Stop by Wrightwood Brew Co. during Mountaineer Days on July 12th to hear the Highway 2 Band playing from 12:00pm-3:00pm. Wrightwood Brew will also host live music on July 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. Guests are invited to unwind on the deck with music, food, and drink specials, including Sunday wings. Live music will also take place on July 26th from 5:00pm-8:00pm featuring the High D Boys band. The venue is located at 1257 Apple Ave., and there is no cover charge.

Hot Summer Wednesday Nights at The Village Grind offer live music and dinner in the heart of Wrightwood from 6 to 8 p.m. On July 2, Erick Rodriguez (eclectic) performs, followed by Bonnie Howard (rock) on July 9, John Burcher (jazz) on July 16, Brittan Webster and David Larkin (pop) on July 23, and Danny Rich and Gina Graham (soul/R&B) on July 30. Dinner tickets are $30 and include a meal, a glass of wine, and entertainment. Tickets are available at wrightwoodrestaurant.com. The Village Grind is located at 6020 Park Drive.

My Hero Subs and Pub brings live music to Phelan on Thursday Nights at 5:30pm where residents can enjoy free music performances along with cold drinks and great food. On July 3rd and July 31st enjoy music by Pegleg Slim. On July 10th listen to an acoustic set by RJ MCRAE playing western desert music and come sing along to your favorite tunes on July 24th for Karaoke night with Beth. My Hero Subs and Pub is located at 4190 Phelan Road in Phelan.

Music in the Pines is a free concert series held from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Wrightwood Community Building parking lot. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs. On July 10, Alex McCue delivers a lively mix of reggae, folk and soul, followed by Hwy 2 Wrightwood with rock ’n’ roll songs. On July 24, Sofie Tabesh, a singer-songwriter and country newcomer, blends country and rock music, while the ACME Time Machine band brings rock ’n’ roll oldies from the ’50s, ’60s and beyond. The final concert in the series is set for Aug. 7 and features Wrightwoodian singer Claudia Campbell, Wanda Ray Willis and The Craig Kupka Band, performing genres ranging from folk and classic rock to soul, reggae and country.

The Tri-Community’s summer music scene offers something for every listener. Whether you’re looking to enjoy dinner with live entertainment, dance under the pines, or simply relax with friends on the deck, local venues have you covered. Keep your calendar open and your ears tuned, because summer sounds are here.
