Three churches, and two local eatery’s, created a huge Thanksgiving feast for hundreds of folks in the Tri-Community this holiday season. New Life Church, High Desert Baptist Church, Fountain of Living Waters Church, Arturo’s Kitchen, and My Hero Subs & Pub prepared a Thanksgiving Dinner with all the traditional foods that warmed the bellies, hearts, and souls of those that attended. Volunteers for each church collaborated in preparing for this joyous evening gathering held at Fountain of Living Waters Church on Johnson Road in Phelan. On loan from High Desert Baptist Church, the tables were set up in long rows, perfect for a huge family-style dinner gathering. The Foursquare Church was decorated with Fall leaves and gorgeous pumpkins depicting the bounty of harvest time.
As folks arrived for the evening, they were welcomed by Pastors from all three churches and greeters from their congregations. Just through the entry door of the church, a 50-foot table was set up buffet style with volunteers from all three churches serving foods such as turkey, ham, stuffing, yams, sweet potatoes, and the best-mashed potatoes and gravy ever prepared, which were donated by My Hero Subs and Pub and Arturo’s Kitchen. This feast even had a special room set aside for a huge variety of desserts.
The churches’ workshop teams sang traditional hymns, creating a feeling of a small-town church. Folks from the congregations gave testimonies of how they found a personal relationship with God.
Pastor Mike Villegas of New Life Church of the Nazarene welcomed and explained that we are all here to break bread together, which is one of the most intimate things we can do, no matter which church you attend, the most important thing is that you find God. The hundreds of people that attended felt welcomed, comfortable, and in friendly spirits, visiting and eating in fellowship as a community.
