In August of 2023, Kingdom Gymnastics (formerly High Desert Gymnastics) made its debut in Pinon Hills. With a wide range of class choices, from Jr. Ninja to Adult Aerial Silk, there is something for everyone from age two and up!
Owner Rachel Turrill was the manager at High Desert Gymnastics prior to opening Kingdom Gymnastics, but her passion for the craft started way back when she was a little girl. At the age of five, she started doing gymnastics with her grandma in a Mommy and Me class. At age twelve, she went on to do competitions and then at age seventeen she transitioned into coaching. After praying about taking on the new adventure of gymnastics studio owner, Turrill knew this was the next step in her journey. “It’s God’s business,” says Turrill. “I’m just here to do what he wants me to do.”

When it comes to classes offered, there are a variety of time slots and days available to find the perfect fit within your busy schedule. “It’s important to find what fits you best,” expressed Turrill.
There is a Parent N’ Me class for the littlest of gymnasts (ages 2-3). This class is designed to introduce the basic fundamental concepts of gymnastics and help develop a strong foundation as they continue to build on their physical development and coordination.
There are three levels of artistic gymnastics classes offered multiple times a week. Level one is a beginner level designed for kids with little to no experience starting at age three. Once the kids learn and master level one skills, they will move on to a level two class where they will continue to build on the skills learned and master new ones to prepare them for the level three class.

Aside from artistic gymnastics classes, they also have a competitive team. From bars and beams to routine dances, these girls work hard, helping each other hone their craft and cheering each other on to bring their A-game to competitions.
Tumbling is offered as well for those hoping to learn the basics or sharpen their skills. This is a popular class for cheerleaders in their off-season.

If your kids have ever watched American Ninja Warrior and thought that was something they’d like to do, then Kingdom Gymnastics has the perfect class. They were the first gymnastics studio in the High Desert to offer a genuine Ninja obstacle course designed by an original designer from the show! They offer coed and boys classes. Mini Ninja starts at age three, moving to Jr. Ninja around age five, and Ninja around age nine and up. With all classes, ages may vary by skill level as well.

For those interested in aerial performance, Kingdom Gymnastics also offers classes in Aerial Silks. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes are available. The minimum age for these classes is seven. A new adult class is offered Thursdays at 8 p.m. for those looking for a fun way to get a workout in or maybe even start a second career!
“The adult silks class has been challenging and fun!” says Kymberlie Johnson. “It’s always so rewarding when I am able to accomplish a new skill. Kimber and Rylee are so sweet and helpful!”

Kingdom Gymnastics also offers private lessons to help enhance specific skills in sports, gymnastics, and ninja.
Additionally, if you are a homeschool parent, they also offer homeschool physical education classes, which are approved by several charter schools. They are always happy to apply to be a new vendor and add to the list of homeschools they are providers for. Aside from the homeschool physical education class, charter funds can also be used for other classes at the studio as well.

Kingdom Gymnastics is dedicated to taking time with each child enrolled and ensuring they master the skills taught. One way they do that is by capping class sizes to around six students for younger age groups, around eight for their mid-age group, and around 10 for older classes.
“We absolutely LOVE our Kingdom Gymnastics family. My girls look forward to their classes each week. We are always greeted by friendly young women who are so kind and patient with their students. Our girls have really grown in their dedication, flexibility, and skills over the past year,” says Johnson.

Kingdom Gymnastics works with a nonprofit called Soaring High Academy that helps offer sponsorships for students who may need some financial assistance.
The gym holds Ninja competitions and a summer and winter Silk and Gymnastics Showcase twice a year. They also offer fun family events throughout the year, such as Ninja Games, Laser Tag, and a Father/Daughter dance. “We are committed to the community,” says Turrill.

Inside the gym, there is a section with handmade leotards for sale. Rachel’s grandmother, Jan, handcrafted leotards for her as a child and continues to do so today. Rachel helps pair the materials. “Everything we’re doing is meant to be done in love,” emphasizes Turrill.
Kingdom Gymnastics also hosts themed birthday parties, transforming the gym into the adventure of your choosing. In the past, they have done Dragons and Knights, Fancy Tea Party, and Underwater themes. Prices vary by package and add-ons available.
