If you haven’t visited the Wrightwood Arts Center (WAC) recently, then treat yourself and stop by any Friday, Saturday, or Sunday from 12-5 pm. What you will find is a hub of creative energy. The walls and shelves are filled with the art of local artists. All work is for sale and would make amazing one-of-a-kind gifts. Most weekends, you will find WAC members and local artists hanging out as community members drop by to view the art and the latest gallery exhibition. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate is complimentary, and the conversation is always interesting.
The Wrightwood Art Center is a non-profit organization, located at 6045 Park Dr., and governed by board members Bonnie Hanson, Reyna Rivera, Peter Castagnetti, Laura McKay, and Corinne Corte. The organization currently has almost 50 members and offers monthly Art Nights, Exhibit Receptions, and a revolving door of activities for the whole family. Recently, WAC invited the community to paint rocks to create an ever-growing “rock snake” located on the Wrightwood Trail near the Wrightwood Elementary School. In May, community members contributed to a collaborative painting based on local photographer Moses Spark’s photograph of Lone Pine Canyon. WAC is always looking to find creative ways to engage the community. Have an idea? Feel free to drop by and let them know how they can best serve you.
The Arts Center also offers its space for artist presentations, club organization meetings, and sponsors Workshops like Raku, Jewelry Making, Printmaking, and Crochet.
As a non-profit organization, WAC relies on commissions from art sales, workshop tuition, and memberships. Memberships are an integral part of supporting the arts within the community. If you are interested in becoming a member, please view the opportunities for membership on their website (wrightwoodarts.org) and consider becoming a member during their August membership drive. You may also stop in during open hours or during any WAC event to join. Become a member in August and attend the 2nd Annual “Artiversary” on Sept 6 for free! This “can’t miss” event includes a local artist group show, silent art auction, a dessert bar, a wine bar, and wonderful music by talented local musicians.
Benefits of membership
1. Discount on monthly Art Nights and workshops scheduled throughout the year
2. Free attendance to Artiversary (Sept 6, 2025)
3. Early access to special sales of work by local artists
4. Special member-only events
Stop by the Arts Center during open hours, check out upcoming events on their website, become a member, and have fun exploring your artistic side.
