Caltrans is continuing to work on the 15 Freeway pavement rehabilitation from Oak Hills Road in Hesperia to just south of Bear Valley Road in Victorville. They announced that the Southbound Ranchero Road on-ramp to the I-15 will be closed starting at 6:00 am on Tuesday, July 18th, and will last through Friday, July 28th at 6:00 am.
While traveling on the I-15, expect delays in the evening and early mornings since crews will be working Northbound from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. and Southbound from 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Drivers will experience alternating lane closures, intermittent on and off-ramp closures, and the possibility of closures going down to one lane. There is a traffic switch north of the US-395, with the Northbound traffic detoured into the median to enable crews to remove and replace concrete. During normal operations, connector closures may occur at the Northbound and Southbound US-395 transitions. Caltrans suggests using SR-138 to SR-18 in Phelan to avoid delays and then connecting back to the I-15 as a detour.
Big rigs, trucks, trailers, and large loads should avoid using lane 4. Motorists should watch out for work trucks entering and exiting from work areas and center median. In the event of rain, North and Southbound lanes #1 and #2 will close due to potential flooding. This project aims to improve safety performance, provide a smoother roadway and improve drainage systems for better water flow. This ongoing project is anticipated to be completed by Spring of 2025.
