The High Desert Keepers, non-profit organization announced that they have removed a total of 1,389,000 pounds of trash from the Mojave Desert areas. The organization is committed to eradicating desert dumping by keeping our community trash free and will be hosting their next community clean-up this weekend in Phelan.
The trash pick-up will take place on Saturday, December 3rd from 8am-12pm and on Sunday, December 4th from 9am-1pm on the south side of Buckwheat and Phelan Road. The organization has named this project “Operation Buckwheat” where an abundance of trash has accumulated including a small boat, the remains of a burned car, and massive amounts of trash and debris. Lunch will be provided on both days and the organization is looking for as many volunteers as possible to help out. If you have any questions, please contact High Desert Keepers at (760) 792-7399 or follow them on their Facebook page for more information about “Operation Buckwheat”.
