We are saddened to announce the passing of Craig Anthony Speers, a beloved longtime resident of Wrightwood. Craig passed away on January 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of infectious smiles and cherished memories. He was born on August 20, 1955, in Oassou, Michigan, to Max and Betty Speers, who later moved the family to Long Beach, CA. In 1965, because of their love for camping, they brought their children to Wrightwood.

Craig attended Wrightwood Elementary School, Hesperia Jr. High, and Apple Valley High School. He worked as a craftsman and built many homes in the area with his partner, Mike Elliott. After changing careers, he went to work at CR&R but still cherished his love for woodworking. Craig enjoyed camping, boating, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family in the great outdoors.

Surviving Craig is his wife of over 40 years, Ellen Speers, his sons Scott and Michael (Lara), and his granddaughter Aurora who was the joy of his life. He is also survived by his brothers Brent Speers and Mark Speers, sister Jan Harris, and their families.

We will celebrate Craig’s life on June 1, 2024, at 1 pm at the Table Mountain Campground Amphitheater in Wrightwood/Big Pines. We invite all who knew Craig to join us in sharing memories of his wonderful life.
