Debt Collectors Can No Longer Garnish Stimulus Checks

Governor Newsom signed an executive order denying debit collectors the ability to garnish stimulus checks. It also retroactive, collectors will have to return already garnished stimulus check money. The exceptions are for people who owe child care, spousal support or have a responsibility to a victim or victims account.
