Music lovers can continue to enjoy a variety of live performances as local venues host outdoor concerts and community music nights throughout August.
The Mountain High Concert Series takes place Saturdays from 5 to 8 p.m. at the North Lodge, where attendees can enjoy free live music in a scenic mountain setting. On Aug. 2, Hwy 2 will perform classic hits. On Aug. 9, Winslow Band, a country and classic rock cover band, will take the stage. On Aug. 16, The Busted Uglies, a local rock band, will perform. On Aug. 23, Dancing Echos, a Grateful Dead cover band, will perform. The series wraps up Aug. 30 with Wild Side Band, an ’80s rock cover band.
Stop by Wrightwood Brew Co. as they host live ’80s music on Aug. 10 from 2 to 5 p.m. Also, So-Petty, a Tom Petty cover band will be playing at the brewery during the Wrightwood Car Show on Saturday, Aug. 16. Don’t miss Wrightwood Brews’ 10-year anniversary celebration on Sunday, Aug. 17 with live music starting at 12pm by Hwy 2 Band followed by the band Delta Shade. Enjoy the sounds of the High D Boys live on Friday, Aug. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. Guests are invited to unwind on the deck with music, food, and drink specials, including Sunday wings. The venue is located at 1257 Apple Ave., and there is no cover charge.
Hot Summer Wednesday Nights at The Village Grind offer live music and dinner in the heart of Wrightwood from 6 to 8 p.m. On Aug. 6, Rodger Whitten, a Wrightwood classical musician, will perform. He will be followed by Mark Barrera on Aug. 9 and Bonnie Matsen on Aug. 20. Dinner tickets are $30 and include a meal, a glass of wine, and entertainment. My Hero Subs and Pub brings live music to Phelan on Thursday nights at 5:30 p.m., where residents can enjoy free music performances along with cold drinks and great food. My Hero Subs and Pub is located at 4190 Phelan Road in Phelan.
The Wrightwood Blues Society will host a blues open mic and concert featuring the Steve Riddle Band at Natalie’s Park on Aug. 23. Entry is by invitation from a Blues Society member. A $10 donation is requested.
The Music in the Pines season finale is set for Aug. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wrightwood Community Parking Lot and will feature Wrightwoodian singer Claudia Campbell, Wanda Ray Willis and the Craig Kupka Band, performing genres ranging from folk and classic rock to soul, reggae and country.
