The Wrightwood Fire Safe Council will host the Wildfire and Disaster Awareness Day on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Mountain Hardware, located at 1390 Highway 2 in Wrightwood.
The event aims to educate the community on emergency preparedness and response procedures. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet representatives from U.S. Forest Sevice, Cal Fire, San Bernrdino County, and Los Angeles County along with San Bernardino County Fire Department, SBC Fire Emergency Communications Service, Wrightwood Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and Wrightwood Fire Safe Council. These agencies will provide demonstrations and be available to answer questions.
Families are encouraged to attend and participate in activities including CERT demonstrations and the Junior Firefighter Challenge for all ages. Check-out the fire trucks & equipment displays, learn about defensible space, wildlife education, and of course, visit with Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog.
Free popcorn and water will be provided. The free event is sponsored by the Wildlife Prevention Partners; including the Wrightwood Fire Safe Council, Cal Fire, CR&R Environmental, Wrightwood Community Services District, Mountain High, Wrightwood CERT, Mountain Hardware, San Bernardino County Code Enforcement, and San Bernardino County Fire and Inland Empire Fire Safe Alliance. Funding is provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Fire Prevention Program.
