The Wrightwood Property Owners Association (WPOA) is calling on the Wrightwood community to support the exemplary dance program initiated in 2023 by the Wrightwood Community Services District (WCSD). To encourage donations, WPOA has pledged to match all community contributions up to a total of $500. These funds will be allocated toward dance scholarships, performance attire, and instructional and performance necessities, including a high-quality sound system and dance-safe flooring. Donations must be received by April 1, 2025. The total amount raised will dictate the purchases made, with final spending decisions determined by dance instructors Leilani Flowers, Erin DeGroot, and designated representatives from the WCSD and WPOA.
How to Make A Donation
Thanks to previous community support, five students received full scholarships for the current session of dance classes. To help contribute to this year’s dance program, checks should be made payable to WPOA and mailed to:
WPOA, P.O. Box 487, Wrightwood, CA 92397-0487.
Please indicate “Dance Class” in the memo section of the check. For donations of $250 or more that require tax-deductible status, checks should be made payable to the High Desert Community Foundation (HDCF) and sent to the same WPOA address. Donors will receive an acknowledgment for their contributions.
Dance Program Information
The Dance Program, which began with Creative Movement and Beginning Ballet, has since expanded to include Caregiver & Infant classes (for children aged 3 to 18 months) and Caregiver & Toddler classes (for children aged 18 months to 3 years), both taught by Erin DeGroot. These classes incorporate music, storytelling, and engaging movement activities designed to enhance sensory experiences. The program promotes fun, fitness, confidence, and disciplined dance instruction, and community support is crucial to its continued growth. Community members are invited to attend the culminating recital on March 1st at 10 AM at the Wrightwood Community Center to see firsthand the impact of their generosity.
Creative Movement and Beginning Ballet classes run for six weeks, culminating in a final recital, with a tuition fee of $70 per student per season. The Caregiver and Me classes span eight weeks at a cost of $80 per pair per season. Registration for the upcoming session begins on February 18, 2025. For those interested in enrolling in dance classes, additional details and registration information can be found on the WCSD recreation webpage at https://wrightwoodcsd.org/recreation. Further inquiries can be directed via email to [email protected].
The WPOA expresses gratitude for the community’s anticipated support in fostering the continued success of this enriching program.
