Wrightwood CERT will offer a HAM Radio Technician Class in May. The class will take place over three consecutive days, from Friday, May 17th, through Sunday, May 19th.
The Technician Class license is an entry-level license that allows you to be very involved in HAM radio and is a great place to start for new HAM radio operators. Instructor Rick Danzey will teach the class, and students must attend all three days. The instructor also recommends buying a copy of the Gordon West Tech Level manual, which is $29.99 and available to order through Amazon. It is highly advantageous to get the book to begin going over the information and to complete the practice tests, which are available online. It will also cost $15 to take the exam after you have completed the classes. Once you pass the exam, an additional $35 is needed for the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to issue you a certified license.
