Tri-Community NewsPlus will host a Candidate Forum and Meet & Greet on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Phelan Community Center. The event, which will feature local candidates running for the Phelan Pinon Hills Community Services District (PPHCSD) Board, the Wrightwood Community Services District (WCSD) Board, and the Snowline Joint Unified School District (SJUSD) Board, will provide an opportunity for the community to engage directly with those seeking to serve in these roles. The candidates have been invited to attend, and the event is open to the public. The forum portion will also be live streamed.
The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 8:00 p.m. During this time, candidates will deliver introductory statements and respond to moderated questions about key issues affecting the Tri-Community, such as public services, education, and local development. Participating candidates include Corey Lafever and Jennifer Rader, both running for the SJUSD Area 2 seat. For the PPHCSD Board, candidates include Rebecca Kujawa, Deborah Philips, and Mary “Tree” Galey. In the WCSD Board race, Martha McFauls, Richard J. Christensen, Chad Michael Keel, Dan Gould, and Jill M. Carltonpayne are competing for two available positions. The forum will conclude with closing statements from each candidate.
From 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., a Meet & Greet session will follow the forum, offering attendees the chance to speak with the candidates in an informal setting.
The event will be held at the Phelan Community Center, located at 4128 Warbler Road in Phelan. All community members are encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to learn more about the candidates and their positions on important local matters. The forum portion of the event will be live-streamed on the NewsPlus YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@4newsplus
