A string of burglaries occurred over the weekend in a commercial shopping building at 4646 Phelan Road. The incident occurred early Sunday morning on November 5th, 2023, when deputies learned that the Skillet Café in Phelan had been burglarized.
Deputy K. Williams responded to the call and learned that the other businesses adjacent to the Skillet Café had also been robbed, which included Karla’s Salon & Barbershop and the recently opened women’s clothing store, The She Shed.
Lilly, owner of The She Shed, said that the doors to all three businesses were broken, and her cash drawer was broken into, which, thankfully, had minimal change inside. “The biggest problem was mostly the damage they left,” said Lilly, who now has to cover the cost of fixing the door to her shop.
Deputies also determined that a power outage in nearby Victorville had knocked out power to the building that night, which caused the security cameras to be inoperable during the time of the crime. Lilly said the owner of the commercial building is being proactive about this incident and has plans to install more lighting around the building in hopes of keeping the property safe in the future.
This investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy K. Williams at Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station 760-552-6800. Callers can remain anonymous and contact We-Tip at 800-78CRIME (27463) or www.wetip.com.
