Serrano football ended their five-game season on a high note when they defeated the Hesperia 61-7, finishing in second place in the Mojave River League with a 4-1 record.
The Diamondbacks mostly focused on their rushing game with ten players getting touches: most of them seniors. Leading the way was senior #5 Jaishawn Wright. He had ten carries for 162 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 16.2 yards per carry. The team scored a total of six rushing touchdowns and had 328 yards on the ground.
In the passing game, senior quarterback #9 Lleyton Steinmann went 3/5 for 82 yards and two touchdowns. His longest pass coming in the second quarter when he connected with fellow senior #13 Jacob Rider for a 65-yard touchdown.
On the defensive side, senior #55 Brian Mackesy led the way with four solo tackles and two assists, followed by senior #34 Adam Alderman, who also had four solo tackles and one assist. Rider, who plays wide receiver and cornerback, had a defensive touchdown after returning an interception for 65 yards.
Seniors led the way for Serrano in their final game. Head Coach Casey Maholchic dedicated the victory to the graduating players.
