On Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 9:02 a.m., Deputy A. Barajas conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 red Chevrolet truck for violations of the California Vehicle Code near Sheep Creek and Phelan roads in Phelan.
During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, 41-year-old Danielle Westhoff of Wrightwood, had a suspended and revoked driver’s license. In the course of a subsequent vehicle search, Deputy Barajas uncovered a firearm and suspected methamphetamine concealed inside Westhoff’s purse.
As a result of the findings, Danielle Westhoff was taken into custody under the charge of HS 11370.1(A): Possession of a controlled substance while armed. Complicating the situation, Westhoff had her 10-year-old son in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Consequently, Children and Family Services were notified, and the child was entrusted to the care of a family member.
Presently, Danielle Westhoff is held at High Desert Detention Center, with bail set at $40,000.00. The investigation remains ongoing, and individuals with pertinent information are urged to contact Deputy A. Barajas at Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station (760-552-6800).
