While Sherrif's deputies searched the home of a vandalism suspect, they found several illegal firearms and nearly 100,000 rounds of ammunition.

A Phelan man has been arrested following an extensive investigation into a series of vandalisms at a local business and the discovery of multiple firearms, high-capacity magazines, and illegal ammunition at his residence.

On Friday, September 27, 2024, at 8:42 a.m., Deputy J. Ballinger responded to a report of vandalism at Veterans Armory, located in the Phelan Towne Square. The business owner reported that the store had been repeatedly vandalized, with the suspect damaging the lock by applying an epoxy substance and spraying adhesive to disable surveillance cameras.

During the investigation, Deputy Ballinger identified the suspect as Gregory Stephen Lamb, a 69-year-old resident of Phelan. The investigation led authorities to Lamb’s home on Thursday, October 10, 2024, where detectives and deputies from the Victor Valley Station, assisted by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Enforcement Division (SED), served a search warrant at Lamb’s residence on the 5300 block of Avenal Street.

Lamb, who was also wanted on outstanding felony warrants for vandalism and making terrorist threats, was arrested without incident. During the search, authorities discovered a significant arsenal, including 38 firearms, AR-15 assault rifles, home-manufactured unserialized guns, and high-capacity magazines. Additionally, Lamb was found in possession of flechette dart ammunition, which consists of small, pointed steel projectiles designed to penetrate targets with high velocity. Originally developed for military use, flechette rounds are controversial due to their potential for excessive harm. Authorities also located 75,000 to 100,000 rounds of ammunition and an illegal suppressor.

Lamb faces multiple charges, including vandalism, possession of explosive bullets, possession of high-capacity magazines, possession of assault weapons, and manufacturing undetectable firearms. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
