At about 1:30 pm in Phelan, a brush fire started near Yucca Terrace and Smith Road. Several engines were on scene as crews battled to stop the forward movement of the fire. At one point a water dropping helicopter was called in to make a few drops. The cause of the fire is unknown, as of about 3:30 pm forward movement of the fire was stopped at about 15 acres with 0% containment and crews are working to construct control lines and mop up.
