From spooky slime to stein-holding contests, the Tri-Community is rolling out a full lineup of fall activities throughout October and into early November. Whether you’re looking to celebrate the Halloween season with crafts and costumes, or simply enjoy an autumn afternoon with food and music, there’s something for all ages happening in Wrightwood, Phelan, and Piñon Hills.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up this season:

 


WRIGHTWOOD LIBRARY – FAMILY SPOOKTACULAR PAINT NIGHT

Thursday, Oct. 2, 4 p.m.

Bring a silly Halloween monster to life on canvas. Your monster can be goofy, spooky or wacky. Family fun.

OUR LADY OF THE SNOWS – OCTOBERFEST

Saturday, Oct. 4, 4 p.m.

Mass at 4 p.m. followed by an Octoberfest dinner at 5 p.m. outdoors on the church grounds. First come, first served. $10 includes sausage entrée, side and dessert. Presented by Women of Light Ministry.

MOUNTAIN HIGH – OKTOBERFEST (Weekend 1)

Friday–Saturday, Oct. 4–5, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Activities and contests all day for all ages: yodeling, stein-holding, pumpkin toss, costume contests, raffles and more. Traditional German fare. Free admission.

Mt High West Resort on Hwy 2 in Wrightwood.

 


WRIGHTWOOD LIBRARY – SPOOKY SLIME TIME

Thursday, Oct. 9, 4 p.m.

Kids will have a blast creating their own creepy, crawly slime with a Halloween twist.

MOUNTAIN HIGH – OKTOBERFEST (Weekend 2)

Friday–Saturday, Oct. 11–12, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A repeat of the weekend fun with more food, contests and family-friendly activities.

WRIGHTWOOD LIBRARY – ADULT HALLOWEEN CRAFT

Saturday, Oct. 18, 1 p.m.

Relax and learn to create your own wickedly delicious potions and brews inspired by iconic villains.

PHELAN MEMORIAL LIBRARY – MONSTER MAYHEM

Saturday, Oct. 18, 2 p.m.

Dress the part—scary or sweet—as the library serves up tricks, treats, games, crafts and prizes.

HOWL-O-WEEN AT FOREVER WILD

Sunday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visit the animals at this exotic sanctuary while enjoying music, food vendors, pumpkin carving, slime stations and “extreme feeds.” Meet-and-greets with skunks, alligators and more. $8 per person; children under 3 free.

PIÑON HILLS ELEMENTARY – FALL FESTIVAL

Friday, Oct. 24, 4 to 7 p.m.

Free games, opportunity baskets, $5 wristbands for jumpers, vendors and a costume contest. Free entry.

KIDS’ HALLOWEEN BAKING CLASS

Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to noon

Children ages 5–17 can learn to make spooky mummy cinnamon rolls. Free, but RSVP required at pphcsd.org/events. Adult supervision required.

15TH ANNUAL FRIGHTWOOD 5K, MINI MONSTER MILE & DRAC DASH

Saturday, Oct. 25, Noon (Registration opens at 11 a.m.)

All ages welcome. Walk, run or ride your broomstick in costume. Awards and prizes follow the race. Proceeds benefit CERT, Serrano High Drama and Wrightwood Elementary’s Raccoon Running Club.

Friday, Oct. 31, 4:30 p.m.

Check out the haunted Halloween scenes and family-friendly treats in the parking lot.

PHELAN SAFE TRICK OR TREAT

Friday, Oct. 31, 5 to 7 p.m.

Hosted by the Phelan Chamber of Commerce in the west-side Stater Bros Plaza parking lot. Local clubs, businesses and residents hand out treats to hundreds of costumed kids.

WRIGHTWOOD – LAST CLOWN STANDING CARNIVAL & PET PARADE

Friday, Oct. 31, 5 to 8 p.m. (or later)

A clown-themed carnival with games, prizes and maybe a few scares. Pet Parade starts at 5 p.m. at the CSD parking lot and ends at Wrightwood’s Littlest Pet Shop for a pet costume contest.

CALVARY CHAPEL – HARVEST PARTY

Saturday, Nov. 1, 3 to 6 p.m.

Celebrate the season with booths, games, a bounce house, hayrides and candy. Costumes welcome.
