The Oak Hills Bulldogs advanced to 3-0 in Mojave River League play after beating Serrano High School 50-7.

On October 15th, the Diamondbacks played the Oak Hills Bulldogs at home and were completely dismantled by the visitors 50-7. Serrano is now 5-3 for the season and 1-2 in Mojave River League play.

Oak Hills entered the contest at 6-1 and undefeated in the MRL. Early in the first quarter, they took the lead with a 15-yard touchdown run by running back Prince Thomas. He ended the game with eight carries for 66 yards.

Serrano answered back a minute later when quarterback Payton Cornell ran the ball 52 yards up the middle for the score, tying the game 7-7 with 6:58 left in the opening quarter. Cornell would finish the game 5/14 for 19 yards passing.

Later in the first, with two minutes left, Oak Hills quarterback Andrew Garcia completed a 31-yard pass to wide receiver Shea Gabriel for a TD. After missing the PAT, the score stood at 13-7. Garcia finished with an impressive 15/18 for 217 yards and four TDs over the air.

Serrano fumbled the ball during the ensuing kickoff, and the Bulldogs recovered on the Diamondbacks 30-yard line. A few plays later, they made them pay for the mistake when Garcia connected with an 11-yard pass to Gabriel for the duo’s second TD of the first quarter. The quarter ended with the Bulldogs ahead 20-7.

Serrano was never able to get a ground or passing game going against the Bulldogs as they were dominated in all aspects of the game. They next play an away game at Sultana High School.

After their victory, Oak Hills advances to 7-1 and next plays a home game against Apple Valley. Apple Valley is 6-2 and undefeated in MRL play.
