A tragic hit-and-run collision occurred on Green Road near Hollister Road in Piñon Hills on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Tristen Horn. The crash happened at approximately 6:14 p.m. on January 19, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Preliminary investigations revealed that Horn was riding a 2007 Yamaha dirt bike when he collided with an unidentified vehicle. Upon impact, he was ejected from his bike and suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene in an unknown direction, leaving Horn behind.
Authorities have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. Evidence from the scene suggests that the suspect’s vehicle may be a Ford F-250 model from 1983 to 2005. CHP Officer G. Garcia, from the Victorville Area office, is leading the investigation. The public is urged to assist by providing any information regarding the vehicle or driver involved.
Ruth Amezcua, the sister-in-law of Horn, is reaching out to the community for help following a hit-and-run that took her brother-in-law’s life. “My brother-in-law was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident. He is survived by his wife and two young children, ages 5 and 11 months. We urge anyone with information to help ensure he receives the justice he deserves,” she stated.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s office has withheld Horn’s identity pending notification of all family members; however, a GoFundMe campaign has confirmed his name and shared details about his life. Described as a loving husband and father, Horn leaves behind his wife and two young children. The campaign, titled “Assist the Horn Family in Their Loss,” seeks financial support to cover funeral expenses.
Community members are encouraged to share information or report sightings of a vehicle matching the description to Officer Garcia at the CHP Victorville Office by calling (760) 241-1186.
