The June 12 Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection in Wrightwood collected 24,257 pounds of material. This event allowed Tri-Community residents to dispose of hazardous materials free of charge, and 253 of them participated.
Employees with the Office of the Fire Marshal, which runs San Bernardino County’s HHW program, were on-site unloading the waste brought in from vehicles. The purpose of this program is to give county residents an outlet to properly dispose of hazardous materials, which in turn benefits the environment by not being illegally dumped. It took some time to tally all of the items that were dropped off, and here is a list of the top materials collected in pounds:
- Latex Paint: 6,105
