Members of Wrightwood Girl Scout Troop 1213 recently completed a community service project that will be considered for the prestigious Bronze Award, one of the highest honors available to Girl Scouts in the 4th and 5th grades.
Scouts Paitin C., Audrina B., Violet M., and Elise D. collaborated on the project, uniting around a shared love of animals. Determined to make a meaningful difference in their community, the girls decided to create a pet supply donation box to benefit Wrightwood’s Littlest Pet Shop, a nonprofit pet rescue that provides adoptions.

The ambitious project required 20 hours of teamwork, creativity, and new skills. The girls started with an old wooden engine crate, which they carefully deconstructed before sanding, measuring, and cutting it to size. They then painted the box and added decorative fabric to give it a welcoming, finished look. Once complete, the sturdy and colorful donation box was delivered to the pet shop.
The donation box is now on display inside Wrightwood’s Littlest Pet Shop, located at 6032 Cedar Street. Local residents are encouraged to drop off pet supplies, including food, leashes, collars, toys, bedding, and other essentials. Donated items are resold at the shop, with proceeds going directly to the rescue to offset veterinary costs and medical care for the animals.

In addition to supplies, residents can donate funds by leaving money in the cash donation box which is connected to the pet supply box. The shop also accepts digital donations via Zelle at (909) 921-2794, making it easier for the community to support the cause.
The troop’s project not only provides much-needed resources for the nonprofit but also highlights the Scouts’ dedication to leadership, problem-solving, and service, which are core values of the Girl Scouts organization. For their efforts, Paitin, Audrina, Violet, and Elise will be formally recognized by the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council in the spring, where they will be awarded the Bronze Award.
Troop leader Robin Daley expressed pride in the girls’ achievement, noting that the project reflects the spirit of giving back to the community that the organization strives to instill in young members.
