The Wrightwood Community Services District’s first-ever “Lunch and Learn” event was a huge success, bringing together local seniors for a meal, conversation, and creative fun on Oct. 22nd in the Wrightwood Community Building.
WCSD Recreation Coordinator, Tesa Donnan (Noriega), collaborated with local volunteers to launch this new monthly program, which offers lunch paired with an engaging art activity for senior residents.
Local volunteers Alisha Brown and Cierra Brown of IDyed, a local face-painting and tie–dying business, decorated the community building with festive, fall-inspired centerpieces that helped create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The centerpieces were later raffled off to guests. They also prepared a hearty, nutritious soup made with fresh vegetables, potatoes, and chicken, served with a generous side of fresh fruit.

About 25 guests attended the inaugural event, where they enjoyed a delicious meal while visiting with one another. After lunch, participants had the chance to explore their creative side with a watercolor art activity led by local volunteers and artists Reyna Rivera, Cheyenne Hunter, Bonnie Nanson, and Noriega Donnan from local non-profit, the Wrightwood Arts Center.

“It was a great lunch,” Tesa said. “We have wonderful people involved in this new program, and we couldn’t do it without our amazing volunteers from IDyed and the Wrightwood Arts Center. We’re very excited to offer more opportunities for our seniors to share a meal, mingle, and create something they can take home.”
The next Senior Lunch and Learn will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26th in the Wrightwood Community Building. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by Nov. 21 by calling 760-249-3205.
