The Wrightwood Community Services District (CSD) appointed Kurt Watson to its board of directors on Sept. 30, filling a two-year seat left vacant by the resignation of Director Franklin.
Watson, a Wrightwood resident since 2016, was selected after public interviews with 11 candidates. The vacant seat covers the remainder of a four-year term that expires in December 2026. Watson, now retired, brings experience in the oil and wind power industries to the board.

During his interview, Watson outlined his goals for the district, including expanding its powers and activities. He expressed a particular interest in exploring water resources for Wrightwood and finding solutions to sewage problems in the village.
Watson was sworn in by General Manager Tamie Keen and attended his first meeting as a director on Oct. 1 at 5 p.m.
During the October meeting, the Wrightwood CSD board was also presented with a plaque from the Bridge Fire united command and joint forces, honoring the great work and positive support they received from the community of Wrightwood.
“I would really like to thank the community for their overwhelming support to the fire fighters. It was amazing from their thanks, shows of support, the food, the drinks, the snacks, just the constant donations we received. So it’s really nice to see the community really come together,” said San Bernardino County Fire Assistant Chief, Kelly Anderson at the October meeting.
The Wrightwood CSD board members accepted the plaque on behalf of the community and will display the appreciation award in the Community Building for the public to view.
The next Wrightwood CSD meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 5:30pm in the Wrightwood Community Building located at 1275 Hwy 2 in Wrightwood.
