Join the High Desert Astronomical Society (HiDAS) for telescope viewing of the constellations on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Victor Valley Museum in Apple Valley.
Cosmic Nights will take place outdoors at the museum, weather permitting. Attendees should dress for outdoor conditions and wear comfortable shoes. Telescopes will be provided by HiDAS, which is based at the Luz Observatory in Apple Valley. The group provides trained volunteer astronomers to operate and maintain the observatory’s equipment.
The evening will feature guided telescope viewing and opportunities to talk with HiDAS members about astronomy. Guests are also welcome to bring binoculars or set up their own telescopes.
General admission is $10 for adults, $8 for military personnel and seniors, $7 for students and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. Museum Foundation members receive a 50% discount on admission. Parking is free. Museum galleries will remain open during the event, and the facility is accessible to people with disabilities.
