Summer heat continues this week with a touch of humidity added for good measure. The big event this weekend is the Angeles Crest 100 Mile Race more commonly known around these parts as the AC100. A great event that bring many into the small village of Wrightwood to cheer on the runners and partake in the local eateries and shops. Weather in Phelan & Pinon Hills this weekend will be in the mid to high 90s and in Wrightwood expect the temperature to be from the high 70s to mid 80s. Senior Line Dancing – From 8:30am – 11:00am, great fun and exercise while learning to line dance and the best part is it’s FREE! Location: Phelan Senior Center at the Phelan Community Park, 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan.
Dance In The Park – From 10:00am – 11:30am. All ages are welcome at this Free summer class, though reservations are preferred by calling the PPHCSD at 760-868-1212. Location: Phelan Community Park, 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan.
Senior Game Day – From 12:00pm – 6:00pm. Seniors step into the air-conditioned Phelan Senior Center to play games including Cribbage. The popular UNO card game begins at 3:00pm and ends at 6:00pm. Location: Phelan Senior Center, 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan.
Wrightwood Farmers Market – From 4:00pm – 7:00pm, locally grown fresh produce, artisan baked goods, jams, coffee, olive oil, honey, natural beauty products & soaps, and crafters can often be found at the Market. In the Wrightwood Community Building in Wrightwood, at the corner of Park Drive and Hwy 2.
Friday Night Steak Dinner At The VFW – From 5:00-7:00pm, all are welcome to visit the VFW and get a complete delicious steak dinner ($22), alternate meals change each week between Ribs($14), Chicken($12), Pork Chops($12), and Fish n Chips($12) or a vegetarian alternate dinner. Kids meals available too! Proceeds help support the programs and outreach of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Phelan. Location: VFW Post 9415 in Phelan at the corner of Nielson and Johnson Roads.
Movies In The Park – Starts at Dusk, around 8:00pm. This weeks’s movie is “The BFG.” Bring your lawn chair, blankets, and smiling face to enjoy the show. Location: Phelan Community Park, 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan.

33rd Annual Angeles Crest 100 Mile Race – Starting at 5:00 am. “Out & Back” 101.4 Mile Endurance Race begins in Wrightwood on Saturday the 6th and ends in Wrightwood on Sunday, August 7th. Runners from all over the world participate. Spectators welcome to cheer on the runners Saturday morning and upon their return on Sunday. Location: The Wrightwood Community Building, 1275 Highway 2 in Wrightwood.
Wrightwood Historical Society Meeting – Starting at 9:00 am. Each meeting is packed full of local history from great presenters. After the meeting schedule some time to view all of the displays in the museum. Location: Wrightwood Museum, 6000 Cedar St. in Wrightwood.
Phelan Town Hall & Ice Cream Social – Starting at 10:00 am. Meet your representatives and neighbors while enjoying ice cream. Talk with; Jay Obernolte- Congressman, Thurston “Smitty” Smith- Assemblyman, Shannon Dicus- Sheriff, Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh- Senator, Paul Cook- County Supervisor, and the PPHCSD Board Members. Wrightwood Movie Nights – Starting at 6:30 pm. Family friendly movies. Free. Bring your chair. Hot dogs, popcorn, drinks & sweets available to buy. Hosted by Wrightwood Property Owners Association.
