San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools proudly named 63 champions following the 35th Annual San Bernardino County History Day competition. The champions were selected from over 140 projects submitted by 200 students from across the County. The winners were honored during an awards ceremony held at California State University, San Bernardino on March 1.
“Each and every student who submitted an entry dedicated time both in and out of the classroom to choose a topic, drive their own research, and create one-of-a-kind entries,” said County Superintendent Ted Alejandre. “We are incredibly proud of the outstanding work our students produced and are ecstatic to see the passion and interest they have in learning from the past.”
History Day is an inter-disciplinary program that encourages students to research and prepare projects in the following six categories: podcasts, exhibits, performances, documentaries, websites, and posters; all based on an annual historical theme. This year’s theme is Rights and Responsibilities in History which encouraged students to research how the two powerful forces in history work together.
All entries were judged and scored by historians, educators and other professionals in related fields.
These students are now eligible to participate in the upcoming California History Day competition May 2-4 at Sacramento State University in Sacramento, CA. Several students from Snowline Schools received awards and will be moving on to the California History Day competition.
